Give People Room to Grow

One of the most important things we can do as leaders is give people room to grow. Sometimes, in our effort to help, we step in too quickly and take away opportunities for others to learn. We all want to see the people around us succeed.

But sometimes, in our effort to help, we get in their way.

We offer too many instructions, correct every little mistake, or step in before someone has a chance to figure things out.

Growth doesn’t happen when someone else makes every decision for you.

It happens when you’re given the opportunity to learn, try, make mistakes, and improve.

The Simplifier’s Take: Good leadership isn’t about controlling every step. It’s about helping others become confident enough to take their own.

If you always step in to do it for someone, you may be taking away the very experience they need to grow. Give guidance, then give them room.
